i know that not everyone is going to like me, and not everyone is going to like my character and / or the lore that i create for her. that's great, we're all entitled to our opinions. but do not approach me in any unkind or disrespectful manner about my character and her story.i will also not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any sort of bigotry in any way, shape or form.

please keep in mind that kaze and i are not the same person. she may have a couple of similar traits to me simply because it makes it easier to portray when i know it, but that does not make us one and the same. please respect that and know that i am a happily married woman and will not respond to untoward comments that are disrespectful to that.

this is a 18+ space, please. while there isn't a lot of nsfw things afoot here, kaze's story does have dark moments that are best consumed by adults.with that being said, please feel free to reach out to me with questions about kaze or if you'd like to work her into your own canon. just please keep in mind that i have a full time job and offline responsibilities and respect that i may take time to get back to you.

heya! i'm vermillion! i'm 37 and a happily married lass living in new england, usa. online hobbies aside, i love listening to music and doting on my fur babies.i've been playing final fantasy xiv since august 2015, and kaze came into existence during the summer of 2022 when the itch for a new oc start to get to me.during my time playing xiv, i've never really gotten into the rp side of things. i've fleshed out kaze slowly over time because i just wanted her to feel connected to the story in her own way. i've never been opposed to rp, but mostly intimidated by it, tbh!

in a word, she is guarded. due to consistent harassment as a child into young adulthood, she learned to keep to herself and always be ready for hurtful words to be tossed her way.however, once someone breaks down her walls and she begins to open up, it's easy to see that she is a joyous creature and is full of love for everything around her.

History

  •   crystallized.    as a child, kaze comes in contact with a corrupted crystal on a family trip. this interaction turns her horns and tail to crystal and covers her body in aether fire burns.

  •   far & away.    kaze leaves thavnair and the comfort of her family home to go to sharlayan and study aether. during her schooling she meets g'raha tia.

  •   is this love?    kaze and g'raha go their separate ways as she travels to eorzea for hands on studying and g'raha stays behind to continue as an archon.

  •   scions of the seventh dawn.    kaze is recruited by and joins the scions of the seventh dawn after her first experience with the echo and hydaelyn's gifts.

  •   tower & pain.    kaze is briefly reunited with g'raha as they begin to explore the crystal tower with the help of nora. they are torn apart once again as g'raha seals himself in the tower to keep people who would use it for unjust causes at bay.

  •   partners.    during the excursion into the aery in search of nidhogg, kaze is approached by a voidsent by the name of kurai. they agree to a pact and kurai becomes kaze's voidsent avatar to assist her during battle.

kaze was born to a rich merchant family in thavnair. while she didn't grow up as nobility per se, she has always enjoyed the finer things in life and lived a lavish lifestyle. this lifestyle contributes to her outfits all having some gold embellishment, even if they are simple garments.when she was ten, her family took a business trip to mhor dona to try and establish a relationship with some traders. kaze, being a child and full of energy, traveled outside of the settlement walls, despite her parents telling her to do anything but.in her excursion she wandered into a cave after hearing a voice calling out to her. inside said cave, she came in contact with some corrupted crystals, which covered her body in aether burns, as well as turning her horns and tail to crystal. this corruption has affected her use of magic, for if she uses too much aether at any one time, numerous crystals protrude from her body that take days to weeks to fall off.to cope with these changes, as well to try and make herself feel better about the teasing she endured during her childhood after the incident, she covered her tail and horns with little flowers, hoping to make them appear pretty and not a disfiguring feature.when she got older, she begged her parents to let her go to sharlyan to study aether and try to see if there was a way to reverse her condition.during her studies she met g’raha tia, who was insistent on getting to know her because of her unusual appearance. their relationship started as an annoyance to kaze, but as time went on, she became attached to him and forgot what it was like to not have him around.their relationship “officially” began when he teased her about being blown off by a date when he also came to the realization that he didn’t really want her to date anyone in the first place. this pushed him to tell her of his feelings, which she shared in return. their love is impossibly sweet and they are not often spotted without the other and were both very protective of each other.she had promised her parents that once her schooling in sharlyan came to a conclusion, that she would return home and continue with the family's merchant lifestyle and carry on that legacy. life didn't have the same thing in mind for her, though, as she set off for eorzea after her studies concluded.this came with the devastation of leaving behind g’raha, but he was determined to learn all that he could about the history of allag and they parted ways in the hopes to one day be reunited.and with her departure to eorzea, her true journey began...
